A figure that marked a turning point in modern Iranian history. This minimalist portrait depicts Reza Shah Pahlavi, founder of the Pahlavi dynasty, on horseback. Reduced to expressive black lines and surrounded by generous negative space, the composition transforms a historical figure into a contemporary visual object. Reza Shah rose from the Persian Cossack Brigade to become Minister of War and Prime Minister before establishing the Pahlavi dynasty in 1925.
